Teeth for Life

I have often thought that teeth are poorly designed.

You would be shocked at how vulnerable they are to decay. Just a few years of a poor diet can cause so much damage. They dissolve with acidic foods and drinks and wear down from overly aggressive brushing and even from other teeth (if you grind them).

Then there is the trouble they cause you when something is wrong. Toothache is incredibly painful and dental infections can be deadly. For small parts of our body that are not essential to life, they can definitely cause you a lot of discomfort!

Ultimately we are living a lot longer than we used to. In Roman times average life expectancy was around 30 years. By the victorian era it was 40-42 years (although of course this is an average so many people did live longer). It is not unheard of to reach 80-90 years now.

If you want to keep your teeth for an entire lifetime (which is what I want for you as well) then you need to actively take care of them. Let me help you with this series of blog posts with advice and tips. Don't forget that this needs to be combined with routine check ups and professional cleans. Healthy Snacks

Keep snacks healthy for your family's teeth.

Sugar consumption between meals is the most damaging to teeth. Try to avoid snacks that contain sugar between meals and keep drinks to milk and water.

This is especially important for children because (if they are anything like my children) they want frequent snacks.
